We had a whirlwind visit from Bronwen and John who came in from Virginia the last weekend in August. We picked them up in Boise on a Friday morning, had lunch at Tucanos, a great Brazilian restaurant in Boise near the airport exit and got back to Burns later in the afternoon. Saturday morning we went on a six mile hike around the neighborhood. It was pretty hot by the time we got back. Saturday afternoon we drove to Diamond through the Lava Bed Craters and ate at the Hotel Diamond where we were serenaded after dinner by Maria Thompson on her fiddle. The food was delicious, served family style so we got to meet some new people. Sunday we did the Steens Mountain tour, having lunch at the French Glen Hotel then on to the top of the mountain at 9500 feet. We nearly blew off. It was a long day but beautiful. The weather was sunny but smoky because of the wild fires. Monday we took Bronwen and John to Sisters to hook up with his brother, Bill, and his wife, Marty. We stayed over with them and had a great dinner at Camp Sherman. Sisters is at the foot of the cascades and has lots of Ponderosa pine forests. It was a great trip. They went on to the Orcas islands the next day. We came back on Tuesday after a stop at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in Sisters where I found the computer desk with hutch that I had been looking for.  It was a great visit and we're so grateful Bronwen and John included us in their vacation plans.
